Supporting Vulnerable Victims and Witnesses

139x144_mind

This course is designed to help you handle cases involving victims and witnesses with mental health issues, learning disabilities or autism. Issues are highlighted through a scenario involving Joe, a victim with autism, whose case has been assigned to you.

You will explore matters that may arise and the support that is available throughout the life of a case. Particular attention is given to special measures; whether, when and how disclosure of the condition should be made; and questioning techniques.

The good practice outlined in the course will help to achieve greater access to justice for a section of society that is exposed to higher levels of victimisation.

Estimated completion time: 1 hour 30 minutes
