This consists of three modules that guide job sponsors through the competency based selection process.
The modules include:
- An Introduction To Competency Based Selection;
- Applying the Commissioners' Code for Recruitment
- Applying the Commissioners' Code Requirements
As part of the Competency Based Selection programme there is a two-day training course and a further e-Learning module on Competency Based Interviewing, both of which are determined by the Learning Needs Analysis.

Modules
Module 1: Introduction
Estimated Completion Time: 5 Minutes
A general introduction to the competency based selection process within the CPS.
Module 2: Applying the Commissioners' Code for Recruitment
Estimated Completion Time: 20 Minutes
This module focuses on applying the Commissioners' Code to the CPS recruitment process. It includes selection on the basis of fair and open competition, as well as identifying the recruitment principles and those responsible for ensuring compliance to the Commissioners' Code.
Module 3: Applying the Commissioners' Code Requirements
Estimated Completion Time: 25 Minutes
This module provides an overview of how the Commissioners' requirements are applied to the recruitment and selection process in the CPS. It highlights the main aim of appointing the best candidate available, based on open and fair competition and merit. It also looks at the selection criteria and different selection techniques.
