There are 6 modules that make up this course. The first three cover the Form of Bill parts 1-3. Modules 4 and 5 look at Prosecutor’s Pitfalls i.e. how to ensure an indictment is secure, how a bill is lodged and how to identify and deal with duplicitous counts and the final module covers ‘The Prosecutor’s Repair Kit’ i.e. how to add, substitute, amend or remove counts and explains the process for quashing indictments.

Form of Bill Part 1
Estimated Completion Time: 20 Minutes
This module explains the purpose and contents of a Bill of Indictment and explains how statutory offences should be quoted in the Statement of Offences. This module also details the particulars of an offence in compliance with S.3 Indictments Act 1945.
Form of Bill Part 2
Estimated Completion Time: 25 Minutes
Form of Bill Part 2 This module identifies the 7 specific averments and how to deal with them it also identifies the rules relating to “attempt” and “alternative” verdicts.
Form of Bill Part 3
Estimated Completion Time: 25 Minutes
This module looks at Summary Offences and the means by which they can be included within the indictment and identifies the specific offences governed by S40 and 41 CJA 1988 it also describes the conditions under which these provisions can be used.
Prosecutor’s Pitfalls Part 1
Estimated Completion Time: 15 Minutes
This module explains how to ensure an indictment is as secure as it can be and what makes it vulnerable. This course also describes how a Bill is lodged and explains how a draft Bill becomes and Indictment in law, it details procedural requirements and provides guidance on specimen counts.
Prosecutor’s Pitfalls Part 2
Estimated Completion Time: 30 Minutes
This module explains how to ensure an indictment is as secure as it can be and what makes it vulnerable. This course also describes how a Bill is lodged and explains how a draft Bill becomes and Indictment in law, it details procedural requirements and provides guidance on specimen counts.
Prosecutor’s Repair Kit
Estimated Completion Time: 25 Minutes
This module explains addition and substitution of counts, amending counts, severance of counts and quashing indictments.
